The round table forum was designed to enable reading educators to get together with one another to discuss the READ 180 classroom. Topics may include, but are not limited to, targeting students for the program, matching students to text using lexiles, the logistics of running the course in both 90-minute and 50-minute classes, how the class aligns with standards, flexibility of the curriculum, and the effectiveness of the class for all students including students with special needs and ELL students. We invite you to share your thoughts, bring examples of creative ideas, and join in the discussion to gain new insights regarding the READ 180 classroom.Cindy Skadahl is a Reading/English teacher at D.C. Everest Senior High. She has presented on issues of reading in the secondary schools at the local, state and national levels. Julie Weller is an LD specialist with eight years of experience in K-12 reading. She has presented seminars on the importance of using lexiles for differentiated instruction. Both Ms. Skadahl and Ms. Weller currently use READ 180 in their classroom instruction.
