Boom
Decker Becker
Song:
Let me tell you the story
of Boom Decker Becker, the man thats still unknown.
He lived in a shack at the school forest, til he died leaving only his
bones.
(Chorus) He'll never return, no he'll never return, but his ghost
is still around.
He'll haunt forever at the school forest, and you'll know he's there
by his sounds.
He died on night in the dead of winter, because it was too darned cold.
But he said with a grin as he kicked the bucket, "This land will
never be sold,"
(Chorus)
And now when you walk up the road at the forest, you can hear him sing
his song,
In his ghostly manner he warns of danger, and says, "run fast of
so long"
(Chorus)
Story:
According to Al Curtis, Boom
Decker Becker was an old logger in this area. His job was to "deck"
the logs as they were hauled from the forest. One day he wanted to get
down from the log pile and haul logs himself. On one of his trips from
the woods, his borrowed horse kicked him in the head and killed him.
Since that time he comes back rattling old harnesses and chains, making
weird noises. No one has ever been hurt by him, but he has chased many
students who were brave enough to go into the woods.
